How long will my session be?
I include up to 2 hours of shooting time. This includes outfit changes as well as drive time to multiple locations so keep this in mind when considering traveling to multiple locations or when deciding how many outfits to bring. Before your session we will meet at my studio for your professional makeup application and yearbook headshot.
What time is my session?
My favorite time to shoot is the last couple hours before sunset. We will schedule your session based on the time of sunset which will vary depending upon the time of year. All shoots are done on the weekdays to minimize people in the backgrounds.
Oh no, it's raining on my session day! Do I have to take pictures in the rain?
Don't worry! I have no intentions on standing in the rain either! We will reschedule! I know dates are booked months in advance and it's impossible to predict the weather. I only book sessions three nights a week to ensure I have room in my schedule for sessions that need to be postponed due to weather. However, I will likely not postpone the shoot until that morning or a few hours before. Rescheduling can be tricky with everyone's schedules so I prefer to wait until we know for sure that it will be pouring. Also, please don't worry if it's not a bright sunny day! Clouds are often preferable and you will still have gorgeous photos!
What should I bring to my session?
Feel free to bring anything that shows off you and your personality. Your puppy, an instrument, your car - you name it! I'm open to anything, just please give me a heads up before hand so I can plan accordingly. Don't forget all of your outfit changes including shoes, belts, accessories, jewelry, etc. Also please bring along either a parent and/or a friend; someone who can make you laugh, help notice stray hairs that need to be brushed, and maybe even hop in a photo or two!
How many outfit changes do you allow?
As many as you want! But...before you go crazy and bring along your entire closet, just realize that every outfit change takes time and this is precious time when we could be shooting. I usually recommend 3 to 4 outfits with a good mix of dressy to casual . If you're having a tough time deciding or want a second opinion, take a pic and text it to me! Layers are always good - for instance a jacket that you can easily take on or off. Keep in mind too that most locations don't have bathrooms for changing so be prepared to change in my pop up dressing room!
Where will my session be?
If you have a place in mind definitely let me know. I love exploring new places. If not, just give me an idea of the type of look you're going for - urban, country, etc. I have a lot of places around the area that are great and I'll be happy to give you suggestions. I usually try to stick to one location that has multiple spots within it for a variety of different looks. We can go to multiple locations, but keep in mind we have two hours total and driving is included in that.
How do I book a session with you?
It’s easy, start with an email to get my availability and we’ll go from there. The best advice I can give you is BOOK EARLY. I only take a limited number of seniors each month to ensure I can give you the attention you deserve. To reserve your date a session fee of $350 is required. Start now by contacting me here.
When will I see my photos?
Roughly three weeks after your session we will meet for your Viewing and Ordering appointment. This meeting occurs in my studio and lasts about an hour. You will see all your proofs and have an opportunity to see and touch the products I offer. Together we'll determine your portrait needs, discuss sizes and styles, and create your custom order. Payment is due at this time and all decision makers must be present at the appointment. You will take home your photos and digital images that day and any additional orders will be ready for pick up within two weeks.
Am I required to go to the photographer my school contracts with to be in the yearbook?
Definitely not. I am happy to take your yearbook head shot and it’s included in my price. I am aware of the requirements for local schools’ yearbooks and your picture will still be included. Yearbook head shots will be done in my home studio after your makeup is applied on the day of your session. Some seniors choose to go to their school’s photographer and pay a minimal fee (around $50) for the yearbook head shot so that they are included in the class composite photo. It’s up to you, but you are definitely not required to use them.
My skin isn’t always perfect. Can you Photoshop me?
Nobody is perfect! I love seeing celebrities without makeup or retouching, they look like everyone else and it’s such a confidence boost! Absolutely, I will touch up any skin imperfections free of charge, no worries. However, do make sure to avoid sunburns before your session as that is not an easy fix. But trust me, after my makeup artist performs her magic you will look and feel amazing!
Speaking of makeup, I'm nervous. I don't want to look like someone else in my senior pictures.
No need to worry. I only contract with the absolute best make up artists in the industry. They are experts in creating the best version of YOU. Feel free to tell them what you like and don't like. I promise you'll love the results. And if you choose to do your own makeup that’s totally fine too! You’ll receive a $100 credit. I want you to be comfortable and feel great! But I really do think professional makeup will take the photos up a notch and you’ll love the way you look!
